I have been carp fishing since the late 80’s starting on club lakes in the south of England, followed by various day ticket waters in the early 90’s. It was around this time that I first started using DT base mixes and flavours. While I maintained my Salisbury AC membership, most of my fishing was at a very small syndicate water in Wiltshire until I left the UK and moved to Canada in 2010. As the co-founder of the Canadian Carp Society (2021), I have been fortunate enough to meet and fish with many carp anglers across Canada.

I’ve been an avid carp angler for 35 years. My fishing career started at the age of 10 where I targeted Roach, Perch and Tench at a local pond close to my parents house. At 14 I started to target Carp, and so began the obsession! I spent a great deal of time fishing the Ringwood circuit which treated me very well and resulted in My UK PB Mirror at 32lb. My UK PB actually came from a small body of water in Sturminster Marshall which was a stunning Common that tipped the scales at 40lb on the nose. Myself and my family emigrated to Canada in 2009 and now reside in Saskatchewan, where I am now lucky enough to have access to what could possibly be some of the most prolific carp fisheries in Canada.

Andrew, who grew up a multi-species angler targeting everything Ontario, Canada has to offer for over 30 years, has re-aligned his focus towards carp fishing and ice fishing over the last several years.
You’ll find Andrew out on the bank all year round and well into winter, chasing wild Canadian carp, and 9 times out of 10 you’ll find a DT Baits banana pop-up on the end of his line.
Finding time to head out fishing is a challenge for Andrew, with twin 4 year old girls running about, but luckily his kids often join him on the bank. When he isn’t fishing, he’s sharing his favourite moments on his Instagram and growing YouTube account – @ActuallyAndrewFishing.

I first started using DT Baits in October of 2021 after the recommendation of my good buddy Wayne. After switching to DT I have had quality captures on a consistent basis. Including more 30+ fish in the first 7 months of DT use than the previous 5 years including my second Canadian 40 to date. The Supa Fruit range has become my go to with the lot of Cult Classics pop ups regularly getting the bites. Producing year round in the Canadian weather, I have complete confidence I can catch anywhere with DT.

Growing up in southern Ontario, I was your typical predator angler targeting walleye, pike and bass respectively. Mostly fishing from shore on my outings I would see the odd Carp cruising in the shallows or along the surface around the peers, but never tried to fish for them. This was due to the culture and negatively towards them in our area where Carp have been given the label of trash fish and invasive, so we just left them alone as kids and teenagers, not too mention there was no real specific tackle or information available at the time even if I wanted to try for them.

Growing up a single child with busy parents, I can honestly say I was never really introduced to the outdoors so there was no real desire to fish and nobody to really teach me for that matter. It wasn’t until I met my husband Sean that i was truly introduced to fishing as he was an avid outdoorsman and always on the shores.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to water and the outdoors. I have fond memories of fishing as a child and through my teenage years. A trip to the Niagara Whirlpool in 2008 with a family friend would be the catalyst to what has now developed into a deep passion. It was then I hooked into my first carp and it forever changed my life. It’s now been almost 15 years and I continue to sharpen my skills and challenge myself. Carp fishing encompasses many different lessons and it is filled with highs and lows. Today I am more intrigued and inspired than I ever could have imagined.
I have always been an advocate for using homemade baits and method mixes. The reason for this is because of the love that I put into making it. The results always spoke for themselves. It gave me confidence.
It wasn’t until I was introduced to DT baits that I realized that confidence could come from somewhere other than my kitchen! DT Baits produces results and I am honored to be a part of this team. What I respect and appreciate most is the QUALITY and attention to detail that goes into the products, because it reminds me of myself.
Here in Southern Ontario we are surrounded by a vast array of water. We have the Great Lakes, large river systems, ponds, canals and creeks all of which hold wild Canadian carp. I am confidentially approaching all these venues with a bait that I have the utmost faith in and look forward to sharing future captures.
