Stuart Lewis

Stuart was introduced to fish at around 7 years of age but found carp at around 12 and it became an obsession. 

Stuart grew up in Nottingham fishing the mighty Trent for all species of fish, but the power of the carp and barbel soon put him on the “big fish obsession”. 

Stuart joined the Army at 18, in the year 2000, but fished throughout his service. He often still managed to get in 4 nights a week, less times for deployments and service reasons. 

He has been posted all around the U.K often choosing his postings to coincide with a certain carp he wanted that resided in those areas. His most recent posting brought him to Colchester in pursuit of the Snake Pit Common. Unfortunately, that fish died the year he arrived. Stuart then retired from the Army at 43, choosing to settle in Colchester for the fishing the local area offers a big fish chaser. Stuart has enjoyed his first two years of retirement fishing 4-5 nights a week.

Short Multi Rig and Choddy’s in the winter.

Bait of choice:

Cold Water Green beast or a Green Beast / N Blend mix.

Currently fishing:

Stuart has spent most of the year on Inworth but on completion of that lake he has moved onto Brakes Pit for some less intense fishing until he finds his new campaign to attack.

Carp fishing tip:

Stay away from any fool with a Bivvy Mallet.

Recent Fishing highlight:

The capture of the famous Stompers Lin from Snake Pit at 37lb 04oz having previously lost it at the net twice in previous years. Not the biggest fish Stuart’s ever caught but the one that means the most to him.
