I’ve been fishing since I could crawl and much like Bobbie I got into through my uncle.

One of my earliest memories we went to Gosfield lake a couple of days before Christmas, and we sat out on the jetty’s fishing for skimmers on  the whips next to Bob Nudd. I carried on fishing with family and friends and around the age of twelve I started to fish in the junior and adult match. I really enjoyed fishing the adult matches and it wasn’t long before I was fishing for the match team and getting the chance to travel to new venues. This was brilliant for school holidays if any of the team had a day and went for a practice session I would get taken along it also meant at the end of the match I would get all the teams left over bait to see me through the week.

I slowed down with the match fishing for a couple of years because it clashed with Saturday nights out but carried on pleasure fishing with mates.

One day at work we were on break when one of the lads started talking about carp fishing and his new pb when I got a dig in the ribs and passed a envelope with photos in and Glenn saying I must be a specimen hunter. He had just got his film developed from his previous trip to Elstow all the fish were upper 30’s and a 40. That was it I was converted spending most breaks talking to Glenn about all things carp.

I started off on the local day ticket water and local river before moving on to Snake pit and beyond.

At the moment my fishing is very limited when I do get the chance I’m normally now out fishing with my youngest nephew Bobbie who has been into fishing since he could crawl. While teaching Bobbie to fish I have been able to tick of some of my goals along the way and share them with him which has made the capture more special.

Favourite rig:

Ronnie rig all day long like to fish pop ups just above my freebies.

Bait of choice:

I have faith in the whole range and before fishing a new water I like to look into previous catch reports from the lake to find out what works before deciding what bait I’m going to use. I normally go with pink Supa Fruit if I’ve got very little information about the lake as I find the pink can catch them off guard when the fish find a bed of it.

Currently fishing:

I am a member of two syndicate which I need to spend more time on.
I normally do a yearly trip to Berners Hall and Waterside fishery.

Carp fishing tip:

Don’t be afraid to try something different to all the other anglers.

Recent Fishing highlight:

Fishing with Bobbie I’ve got to many to mention. He’s first trip night fishing we had a fish called Bobby Ball in my lake and after talking it up all night when the rod went in the morning it could only be one fish and at 33lb we were both happy.
